Anita’s Riverfront Grille is located at 341 South Water Street in Marine City, overlooking the St. Clair River. However, this is not the location where Anita’s Place originally opened.
Sinforosa “Anita” Pauluzzi Zeller first fulfilled her dream of being a restaurateur on December 1, 1981 at 170 S Water Street in Marine City. Anita’s dream to own and operate a restaurant along with her hard work, vision and enthusiasm for being the ultimate “hostess” made the original Anita’s Place successful. But on June 2, 1992 both the business and her home were destroyed by a fire. Such a disaster would cause many to quit and give up their dream… not Anita. Determined to reopen, she spent the next three years working and started the process of rebuilding.
In 1995 Anita purchased the current Anita’s Place location with continued help with John and Victoria, her son in law and daughter. Anita’s success can be attributed to her stressing customer service first and pride in the restaurant and the community. She was committed to making the restaurant a welcoming, friendly atmosphere with her special recipes served by hospitable wait staff!
Anita lost her battle with cancer on November 17, 2006 and we will always miss her. In her memory we continue Anita’s commitment to excellence in our focus on customer service based in quality food preparation, presentation, consistency and service.
